MacEwan Digital Exhibits is an online platform using Omeka S software for hosting curated digital collections. This guide provides information to support MacEwan faculty, staff, and students interested in curating and building digital exhibits using the Omeka S platform. 

What is Omeka S?

Omeka S is a web publication system for universities, archives, galleries, libraries, and museums. It is used frequently by scholars, students, and researchers to build engaging digital collections including interactive maps and timelines. For additional information, visit the Omeka S site.

Who can create digital exhibits?

Any MacEwan University faculty member, staff member, or student under the direction of faculty or staff can submit a proposal to create an Omeka S exhibit. 

What types of exhibits can I create?

  • archive of primary sources
  • interactive maps and timeline projects
  • oral history projects
  • user-generated content (i.e. student works)
