Citation Style for Legal Sources

Legal research and writing has its own citation style. Your best sources for Canadian legal citation are:

  • the Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation (call number: KE 259 .C36 2018), also called the "McGill Guide"
  • MacEwan's online Legal Citation guide
  • the online guide to Legal Citation maintained by the Lederman Law Library at Queen's University (This page is helpful if you use the examples on the left side menu, but you will not be able to use the McGill resource links).

If you are using a particular citation style (e.g., MLA, APA, etc.), the style guides will provide guidelines for citing legal sources.
