Finding Articles - Selected Databases

Finding Books - Suggested Subject Headings

Use the library catalogue when searching for books.  To search by subject headings, select "Subject" in the drop-down list and type any of the following:

  • Athletes--nutrition
  • Sports injuries
  • Sports injuries--patients--rehabilitation
  • Athletic injuries--rehabilitation
  • Women athletes--wounds and injuries
  • Sports medicine--methods
  • Football injuries
  • Soccer injuries
  • Hockey--safety measures
  • Heat stroke
  • Shoulder--injruies

Identifying Scholarly Journals

For your project, you will need to include an annotated bibliography of at least 15-20 scholarly references.

What's a Review Article?

A review article synthesizes the current state of knowledge on a given topic. Review articles often include the following:

-comprehensive bibliographies

-the main researchers working in a field

-major advances and discoveries

-significant gaps in the research

-current debates or controversies

-ideas of where research might go next
