Russia has been at war with Ukraine since 2014 when the Kremlin annexed Crimea and then supported pro-Russian militants in the Donbas region of Southeastern Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, after months of troop build-up on Ukrainian borders, Russia reinvaded Ukraine. For the last eight years, there has been much information circulating about the situation in Ukraine, including explicit forms of disinformation. The present purpose of this guide is to provide sources of accurate, fact-based, information and research on Ukraine produced by experts on Ukrainian society and history.
This resource is a work in progress and will continue to expand and change over time. At present, materials are organized into the following categories: (1) Writing on disinformation in the Ukrainian-Russian context. This section also includes information on trustworthy English-language news sources, (2) Scholarship on the Ukrainian state and nation, (3) Ukrainian humanities and culture, including literature, & (4) Diaries, Podcasts & Videos. This guide also includes a section on research institutions dedicated to the study of Ukraine.
